Sandra L. "Sandi" Gildenmeister, 76, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, Nov. 10, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Sandi was born Nov. 18, 1946, in Sandusky, the daughter of Jerry Franklin and Mary Ellen (Bartlett) Shafter. Sandi was a beautician in the local area for nearly 50 years and owned and operated her own shop, "Hair Unlimited," for many years. She will be remembered by her family for her gift of gab as being a true conversationalist.
She is survived by her sons, Ron (Angela) Harkness of Columbus and Keith (Shelly) Gildenmeister of Vickery; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert F. (Jonnie) Shafer, Susan (Lee) Volmer, Vicki Shafer, Rick (Kathy) Shafer, and Julie (Mike) Marsinko; and many nieces and nephews.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Geraldine N. "Jeri" Shafer.
It was requested by the family for cremation to take place. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at Castalia Cemetery. Sandi's celebration of life gathering will follow at Castalia Lions Club.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.
Arrangements have been entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
