Sandra Jewett Obituary

Sandra (Maschari) Jewett

Dec 8, 1936 - May 1, 2024

Sandusky

Sandra (Maschari) Jewett, 87, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 1, 2024, at Providence Care Center.

Sandra was born Dec. 8, 1936, in Sandusky, to Thomas J. and Minnie (Poggiali) Maschari.

She was employed at the former Caryl Crane Women's Shop prior to raising her family. She married her husband, Lee, on Feb. 8, 1958. Sandra was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Plum Brook Country Club, Sandusky Yacht Club, and Cedar Point Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, entertaining, and spending time with her friends and family, but especially her grandchildren.

Lee, her husband of 66 years, was an accomplished architect and roller coaster designer for Cedar Point. Together, Sandra and Lee were philanthropic members of the community, contributing to various foundations in Sandusky.

Sandra is survived by her sons, Britton (Poppy) Jewett of Santa Barbara, California, and Gregg Jewett of Sandusky; sister, Tammy (Willam) Pahl; grandchildren, Jackson and Hannah; nieces, Staci and Stephanie Pahl Kopke; and grandnephew, Kruz Kopke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee C. Jewett in 2022; and brother, Tom Maschari in 2002.

A memorial service for both Sandra and Lee and will be announced at a later date.

Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory will be assisting family with arrangements.

Sandra and my big brother Lee guided me through my high school years. Sandra helped me develop my fashion sense and even got me a job at Caryl Cranes during summer and holiday vacations. She was the ultimate hostess.

Sandra's classic style and taste was reflected in her impeccable home, and her gardens. They were a distinct part of the way she moved through the world. I always thought of her as the "Jackie O" of Sandusky. The true partnership she shared with her husband, a visionary, and the life they built seemed to be fueled by a shared creativity. That son Britt embarked on an astounding architecture practice was a source of such pride for her, as were his remarkable children. Son Gregg's collections, and appreciation for vintage craft will always stay with me. I recall sitting with her Mother, Minnie, whom she deeply loved and saw a shared delight in the other. Her sister, Tammy, whose fierce loyalty and enduring devotion for her sister - and the friendship and bond they shared through life - was a truly rare and inspiring love, and Tammy's daughters, her nieces, honored their mother's care. I will remember her and how she walked, with grace, down the curated path she made through this life. Karen
