Sharon Liljedahl Obituary

Sharon Liljedahl
February 2, 1960 - May 31, 2025
Sharon Lynn Liljedahl, 65, passed away at her home on May 31, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. By her side throughout it all was her beloved husband of 38 years, David Liljedahl Jr.
Born in Waterbury on February 2, 1960, Sharon was the daughter of the late Charles and Leona (Elwood) O'Neil. She graduated from Wolcott High School and went on to study Radiology at Mattatuck Community College. Starting her career as a radiology technician, she later transitioned into roles as a stay-at-home mom, a home care provider, and then perhaps her most cherished role, as "Nanny" to her grandson.
A true nurturer at heart, Sharon lived her life in service to family and friends; she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion.
In addition to her husband, Sharon is survived by her children: Alister Liljedahl, Austin Liljedahl, and Anessa Liljedahl; her grandson, Logan Liljedahl; and her brother, Charles O'Neil (Ellen).
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
Donations in Sharon's memory may be made: online to the Glioblastoma Foundation, to the Neuro-Oncology Support Fund at the University of Connecticut Foundation, Inc. Checks made payable to the UConn Foundation, Inc. can be mailed to: The UConn Foundation, Inc., Attn: Data Services, 2390 Alumni Dr., Unit 3206, Storrs, CT 06269-3206. I have delayed writing anything here, because it has been hard to know what to say about Sharon that would convey how I feel. She was a bright and beautiful star and all those she touched have been truly blessed, including me. I very much regret not having seen her in a while, though my heart broke to know what she and the family have suffered through. I miss her and I know the pain of losing her is deep for all of you. Each day will be very hard for a long time and time does not heal but the passage of time does help to make the happy memories the most prominent ones. I know that all too well, personally.

Art and I send our love and deepest sympathy to you, David, Alister, Austin and Anessa.

I´m so sorry to hear about Sharon´s passing. Sharon and I belonged to Big Brothers/Big Sisters many years ago and we would hang out together with "our girls." Sharon was always happy. My condolences to her family.
