Sandusky
Suanne N. (Neer) Brown, 88, a lifelong resident of Sandusky, peacefully passed away early Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, 2022, at Parkvue Health Care Center following a brief illness.
Suanne was born July 9, 1934, in Sandusky, to the late Delton A. and Carlena H. (Eschels) Neer.
Suanne graduated from Sandusky High School in 1952. She received her bachelor's degree in education and was an elementary teacher for Sandusky City Schools for 26 years. Suanne was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of Sandusky Yacht Club and Sandusky Elks Lodge #285. Suanne was a board member of the College Women's Club and a former board member for Erie Metro Housing, Humane Society of Erie County, Women's Civic Club, Sandusky Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary, and former Providence Hospital Auxiliary. Suanne served as Sandusky City Commissioner from 1998-2006 and was also recipient of Woman of Excellence Award.
Suanne is survived by her daughter, Ellen (John) Ballas of Rocky River; sons, Larry (Susan) Brown of Fort Recovery and David (Susan) Brown of Rockwall, Texas; grandchildren, Keith (Jill Fox) Brown, Eric (Sam) Brown, Grace (Mario) Valles, Abby (Zach) Hinson, Kristen Brown, and John, Michelena, and Dominic Ballas; cousin, John (Linda) Eschels; and other beloved relatives.
In addition to her parents, Suanne was preceded in death by her former husband of 50 years, Charles V. Brown; and her treasured Havanese, CeCe.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Suanne's funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at the funeral home, with Deacon Bill Burch officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
