Susan Kay Gowitzka-Rinner, 69, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 21, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 7, 1957, in Sandusky and grew up in Vickery, graduating from Fremont Ross High School.
Susan dedicated many years to Woolen Products, where she worked in the lab programming Coordinate Measuring Machines, taking great pride in her work. She enjoyed gardening, painting, cooking, baking, and sewing, and found happiness in the simple joys of home and nature. Above all, Susan cherished her family and lived by her favorite saying, "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar," reflecting her warmth and kindness. She will be remembered for her radiant spirit, strength, and adventurous nature.
Susan is survived by her husband, Patrick Rinner; daughter, Tara (Tahj) Rinner; stepdaughters, Brittney (Daniel) Long and Melissa (James) Rinner; mother, Eleanor Gowitzka; sisters, Betty (Dennis) Kaufman, Robin (Dean) Koch, Sharon (Gary) Fedeli, Sandy (Jeff) Naugle, and Stacey (Jeremy) Busack; brothers, Arden (Robin) Gowitzka, Tom Gowitzka, and Tim Gowitzka; sisters-in-law, Shelley Rinner and Cindy (Rodney) Iehle; brother-in-law, Dale (Debbie) Rinner; grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Gowitzka; grandparents, Emma and Luther Gowitzka; and sister-in-law, Mary (Chuck) Rinner.
A celebration of life will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Casual attire is welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
