Tammy Sue Shupe, 61, a cherished resident of Vermilion, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at her home following a brief illness.
Tammy was born April 23, 1962, in Lorain. She was deeply rooted in Vermilion throughout her life. She graduated from Vermilion High School in 1980, marking the beginning of her journey.
Tammy dedicated herself to serving others, working as a server in various local restaurants, notably the Brass Pelican in Huron and American Legion Post #397. She found great joy in building friendships with her customers and took pride in her work.
Her passions were evident in her love for family, animals - especially her grandpuppy and cats - and most importantly, the precious moments shared with her daughter, Alex.
Tammy is survived by her beloved daughter, Alexandra (Michael Griffin "Griff") Tansey of Vermilion; siblings, Sharon (Scott) Ebert of Sandusky, Dennis (Diane) Shupe, Daniel (Christy) Shupe of Vermilion, and Tim (Jean) Olney of Amherst; stepmother, Peggy Shupe of Vermilion; and Alex's father, Pat Tansey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ernest Shupe; mother, Yvonne L. Shupe; and grandparents, Elizabeth and Albert Good and Thelma and Jiggs Slocum.
Visitation for friends and family to pay their respects will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, until the time of Tammy's memorial service at 11 a.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Private inurnment will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
The family suggests contributions to Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County, Inc., 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio, 44035, or American Heart Association, 1375 East 9th Street #600, Cleveland, Ohio, 44114.
