Thelma Kathleen McKinney, 86, residing in Castalia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023.

Thelma was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to William Giles Compton and Rosa Lee (Cody) Compton. She was married to the love of her life, Earl Raymond McKinney, for 65 years.

Thelma loved her family and spending time with them was the most important thing in her life. She devoted herself to caring for her family and home. She loved to cook for her family. She loved gardening and always had a large vegetable garden. She loved southern gospel music and usually had the Gaithers playing in the background. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. She is now reunited with her family in Heaven.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Greg (Diane) McKinney, Randy (Joyce) McKinney, and Perry (Carol) McKinney; daughter, Lori (William) Wobser; grandchildren, Christopher, Erik, Shaun, Christine, Andrew, Joshua, and Morgan; stepgrandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Lauren, Jennifer, Tracy, Holly, and William IV; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Raymond McKinney in 2021; infant son, Gerry Edward McKinney; siblings, Betty Compton, Hubert Compton, Ray (Nadine) Compton, Bessie Compton, Jenny Lee (George) Burge, Helen (Richard) Blake, Shady (Ken) Robey, Mossie (Pete) Peterson, and Dora (Tony) Nadratowicz; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Thelma's funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at the funeral home. Pastor Wally Gilbert will preside. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
