Thelma L. (Cunningham) Meredith, 89, residing in Huron, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
Thelma was born Aug. 22, 1933, in Huntingdon, Tennessee, a woman of faith, kindness, and love who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
Thelma was a dedicated worker, spending 18 years at the former Barr Rubber Plant in Sandusky and 14 years at IPC in Norwalk, from where she retired in 2000. In her free time, Thelma found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an active member of Bellevue Church of Christ, where she found spiritual nourishment and fellowship. Church was a significant part of her life and she cherished watching Sunday church services. Thelma also had a green thumb and found serenity in her garden surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Above all, Thelma was a devoted family woman. She was the loving mother of Patricia Lynn (John) Palmison of Sandusky and Jeannie (Michael) Chambers of Bluffton, South Carolina. She was a doting grandmother to eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Thelma was also a cherished aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Travis T. Meredith in 2000; son, Michael W. Meredith in 2017; daughter, Teresa Gail Fitzthum in 2023; two grandchildren, John Robert Costello and Nicholas J. Costello; and brothers and sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jackie Uhl and Amazing Angels for the care they provided to their mother.
Visitation for friends will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, until the time of Thelma's funeral at 12 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Daniel Sanders presiding. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
