Theodore Clifford "Ted" Buzard
Feb 28, 1945 - Mar 1, 2026
Sandusky
On March 1, 2026, Theodore Clifford Buzard, 81, of Sandusky, closed his eyes one final time on this earth and was welcomed into eternity by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ted, or as some know him, "Teddy," was born February 28, 1945, in
Wallagrass, Maine, to Theodore Clifford and Marie Angel Buzard. He graduated from Midpark High School in 1964 before completing Computer Programming courses at Ohio Technical College in Cleveland. He also achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant while in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. His greatest achievement was when he gave his life to Jesus after being invited to church by his good friend, Jeff Ferback; an invitation was given to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior, then Kaye Burel sang while he walked forward to accept the invitation. Because of their obedience to their faith, Ted's life was forever changed.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Isaac "Curly" and Helena Aldridge; his beloved little brother and best friend, Paul David Buzard; his infant sister, Patricia "Patty" Ann Buzard; and multiple extended family members.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 41 years, Deborah "Debe" Kay Buzard; his daughter, Elisabeth "Libby" (Josh) Halstead; grandchildren, Clifford(who was named after him), Eloise, James, and a fourth due in July; his brother's widow and children, Diane (Terry) Bracken, Kym (Jeff) Zenkel, Steve(Margie) Buzard, and Shelley (Roger) Johnson who was his caretaker during his final six months; plus his brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Teddy was a man of faith and a man of many laughs. He was a member of Faith Church in Sandusky, where he served with excellence and humility. Whether it was Sunday School, music ministry, Men's Ministry, or something that would go unseen, he did it all for God's glory to the best of his ability so that people could know Jesus.
He always had a way of making everyone feel welcome, explaining the bible in a way they could understand, and making them laugh through it all.
His favorite way to interact with people, even complete strangers, was making them laugh and smile. He would often say, "You never know if you're the only person that made them smile today," and considered bringing joy to people one of his greatest ministries.
"As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me, the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:6-8
We will celebrate Ted's life with visitation from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Faith Church, 1320 E Strub Rd.
Sandusky, Ohio 44870, officiated by Pastor Ken Hiser. Military services will follow services at the church. There will be no burial or graveside service due to Ted's choice of being cremated.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to his grandkids, Clifford and Eloise's, Mission Fundraiser through BGMC at Faith Church. They have a goal of raising $200 each this month that will go towards natural disaster relief and feeding programs around the world. To give, make checks payable to Faith Church with the Memo "Cliff/Ellie Halstead-BGMC" or contact Libby for other options.
