Theodore "Ted" Cassidy, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Ohio Veterans Home after a lengthy illness.

Ted was born November 14, 1940, in Sandusky, to the late Albert and Lillian (Blatt) Cassidy.

Ted graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1958. He joined the Army in 1961 and served at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. There, he was proud to lead the Honor Guard. While serving in the Vietnam era in South Korea as an E5 sergeant, he qualified to carry secret documents to US bases throughout the country. He loved his job as a construction electrician. He belonged to IBEW Local No. 129 in Lorain, Ohio, and also worked and retired from General Motors, where he was a member of UAW Local 913 in Sandusky. He was a member of the local American Legion Post #83. He also started a business, Plastic Engraving, which supplied many local businesses with mostly indoor signage and other products. He loved woodworking; it was his favorite hobby. He built and fixed so many things. He enjoyed traveling in a motorhome after retiring, visiting family, National Parks, hiking, sightseeing, and traveling throughout the US and Canada, visiting all but three states in the US.

Ted is survived by his wife, Patricia (Kihlken) Cassidy. He is also survived by his son, Kevin (Amanda) Cassidy; two daughters, Sherry (Keith) Bragg and Lori (Roy) Reagan; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ted is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Cassidy.

Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with SAMA Brent Gardner presiding. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
