Grew up as neighbors to the Milkie family. Remember entering their home was like being home. Duffy was always welcome in our house as well. The entire family was always happy, friendly, and wonderful to know. I send prayers and love to the family. Mr. Milkie, please look up my brother Steve and let him know we all still miss him. Pass along a hello to all the neighbors that have been watching over us all. That entire neighborhood was a great place to be growing up!

On behalf of the membership of the Bellevue Track and Field Officials Association, of which Gene was a long-time and valued member, I'd like to express our sincerest condolences to Gene's family. It was always a pleasure to work a meet with him or chat with him at one of our meetings. I have really missed him all the years since he retired from officiating as he was one of the first members I got to know when I started officiating as it was easy to do so. Thanks, Gene, for your service and the many pieces of candy.

I know there are no words that can ease your pain; however, I wanted to share that my mother often told me that you and Gene had a wonderful marriage that produced a remarkable son. May all your wonderful memories of Gene comfort you during this heartbreaking time. She was so fond of the both of you and looked forward to the time she spent with you too.

One of the last members of a generation that helped lay the foundation for Bellevue's renowned sports legacy. Although they were just "coaching" us, they were actually instilling in us the confidence to face life's
challenges. Mr. Milkie will be surely missed.
