William Jones Sr., 72, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
William was born Oct. 4, 1951, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, to David and Alice (Smith) Jones Sr.
William was employed and retired after 30 years of service as an Auto Assembler at Lorain Ford Motor Company. William enjoyed fishing, listening to music, watching tv, gambling, and spending time with his family and friends, especially the grandkids.
William is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Mulvane) Jones; two daughters, Marquitta Jones of California and Essence (Jamarcus) Jackson of Sandusky; son, William Jones Jr. of California; seven grandchildren, Pharon, Nasji, A'Lasia, Brandarion, Jamarcus Jr., Ja'myus, and Ja'monte; sisters, Jessie Gordan, Demetriss Jones, Nettie (Ronald) Ellis, Dorothy (Butch) Jackson, and Shirley Jones; brothers, Lemon (Carolyn) Jones, Ray Grant, and Anthony Jones Sr.; special friend, Ken Nuber; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Jones, Ruteal Staten, Edna Jones, Mary Wright, Nancy Jones, and Johnnie Stovall; and brothers, Jerry Jones, Roosevelt Cole, Jimmie Jones, and David Jones.
Private family services will be conducted with Elder Marlissa Tiller officiating. Entombment will take place at Oakland Cemetery.
Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.
