Clyde
William Strong, 81, of Clyde, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. William was born June 2, 1941, in Elyria, the son of the late Elwyn and Mabel (Jones) Strong.
William proudly served his country in U.S. Navy. He was very active in the Clyde community, having coached Clyde High School soccer, track, and girls' basketball teams. He was past President of Buckeye Boys State and a member of Boys State Hall of Fame. He was a 32nd degree Freemason and member of American Legion Post 83, Clyde Eagles, Clyde Moose, and Clyde VFW.
William is survived by his son, William Strong Jr. of Sandusky; daughters, Janette (James) Andrus of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Nanette (Clarence) Peters of Sandusky; grandchildren, Katie, Brannon, Buddy, Kyle, Janel, and Zeb; five great-grandchildren; and companion, Alice Auxter of Clyde.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Smith) Strong; and sister, Margaret Dencer.
Friends will be received 1-4 and 5-7:30 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2022, at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, Ohio, 43410. A memorial service will take place at 7:30 p.m. after visitation at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Buckeye Boys State.
