Wilma I. Reer

Sep 27, 1929 - Oct 12, 2022

Milan

Wilma I. Reer, 93, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family following a lingering illness.

Wilma was born Sept. 27, 1929, to George and Mattie-Bell (Lishman) Bennett in Greenwood, Mississippi. She was an only child.

Wilma was a 1947 graduate of Greenwood High School. She married her husband of 53 years, Howard, on Dec. 24, 1947.

She retired from Fanny Farmer Candies after 34 years of service. Wilma was a member of Milan American Legion Woman's Auxiliary and Norwalk V.F.W. Woman's Auxiliary.

She enjoyed boating and fishing with her husband, Howard, and family on Lake Erie. Wilma enjoyed going to casinos and local game rooms (penny machines) with her friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of the highlights of her life was a surprise 90th birthday party at Milan Town Hall. It was attended by 150 people and was organized by her niece, Stacia Reer.

Wilma is survived by her son, Eddie; daughter, Linda (Kurt) Smith; three grandchildren, Bryan Reer, Nathaniel (Melissa) Smith, and Tara Smith; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Howard, in 2001.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.

Special thanks to Southern Care Hospice and all her caregivers. A special thanks to family friend and neighbor, Carol Kuhlman.

Memorial contributions may be made to Milan Public Library and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.

Awww...I just heard today that Wilma had passed away. Although she wasn´t my Aunt, she was always `Aunt Wilma´ to me. She was such a gem. I´m sure she is missed by many. My thoughts and prayers for her family members. I know she and my Aunts are having a good laugh together in heaven.

Wilma was a friend to me and to my family. She and her family lived across the street from us on League Street in Norwalk for quite a few years. She was a fun lady and we thought a lot of her. Her daughter and I played together often as children. Hope her and my mother are behaving themselves in heaven..Love Reesa
