A. Janette Bretz, 90, formerly of Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Westover Retirement Community in Hamilton. She was surrounded by her loved ones and tended to by a caring team of Westover and Hospice of Cincinnati staff.
Jan was born June 12, 1935, in Kissimmee, Florida. She was an energetic walker, enjoyed cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, took pleasure in growing roses, and loved to build jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family.
Jan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Richard H. Bretz, in addition to her parents and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her son, Richard L. Bretz; daughter-in-law, Stacey Lowery Bretz; and her three grandchildren, Suzannah, Tessa, and Mikaela.
Family will receive friends and visitors from 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. uesday, July 29, 2025, at Middle Bass Island Cemetery, 131 Lonz Rd, Middle Bass.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Jan's memory with a lasting gift may do so by contributing to either Westover Retirement Community, 855 Stahlheber Road, Hamilton, OH 45013 or Hospice of Cincinnati at https://hospiceofcincinnati.org/donate/
