Amy Below Obituary

Amy Dee Below

Feb 10, 1960 - Nov 25, 2024

Port Clinton

Amy Dee Below, 64, of Port Clinton, passed unexpectedly away Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. She was born Feb. 10, 1960, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Doug and Lyda (Perkins) Maytham. Amy graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1978 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from attending both Terra Community College and Bowling Green State University. On Nov. 1, 1980, in Port Clinton, she married David A. Below, and he survives.

Amy worked as a college advisor for Terra Community College for 33 years. After retiring, she worked as a volunteer coordinator for The Salvation Army and EHOVE for 5 years.

Amy had a passion for the arts. She enjoyed painting, sculpting, and gardening. Amy also enjoyed going thrift shopping and looking for items that she thought others could use. She spent time a lot of her free time doing community service and volunteering. She was a very generous and giving person. Her grandkids, sisters, and friends were a big part of her life. Amy was a member of Nugent's Canal Yacht Club, Middle Bass Island Yacht Club, and Titty Tuesday Club. She was known to be lucky winning different raffle contests. Amy will be greatly missed as a partner and as always having a positive attitude and being a big ball of guiding light for others. Her laughter, random non-sensical text messages or group messages you didn't ask to be on will now be really missed.

In addition to her loving husband, David, of 44 years, Amy is survived by her daughters, Hanna (Nick Ollervides) Below and Leah (Austin Turner) Below; grandchildren, Rylen Turner, Frankie Ollervides, Griffin Turner, and Beau Ollervides; siblings, Cindy James, Jodi Cooper, Julie Bise, and Scott Maytham; and many friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation for Amy will be from 11-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH, with memorial services to follow at 2 p.m.

Memorial contributions in memory of Amy may be given to Hopfinger-Zimmerman Park or Salvation Army.

I just hears of Amy´s passing from Tom Maher. I knew Amy thru DECA and Terra. She was always positive, helpful and a joy to work with. I´m glad I knew her and know she will be missed by many. Her positive actions will be remembered by many.

I met Amy at Terra, and we all know how easy she is to love. Many memories and good times. We enjoyed running into her and Dave at the Lagoon, too. My prayers and respect to you and the girls.

Kind, thoughtful, caring, fun to be with. . .these are words that describe Amy, and everyone who worked with Amy at Terra for those 33 years would agree. I knew Amy as a student and then as a co-worker, and I am sure everyone who worked with her would agree. My deepest sympathy to her family. You had a wonderful "Mom". Sue P. Babione
