Anita Ferrell Obituary

Anita L. Ferrell

Mar 30, 1933 - Oct 16, 2024

Sandusky

Anita Louise Ferrell, 91, Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, in Providence Care Center.

She was born on March 30,1933, in Varney, West Virginia, to Floyd and Matilda (Varney) Scott.

She married Thomas Ferrell in 1950, they had four children together. In 1960, they moved the family to Sandusky, to be near her parents who had relocated to Castalia, Ohio. In 1969, a job opportunity for Thomas with Ohio Edison led them to relocate to South Bass Island, Put-in-Bay, Ohio, where they made many new friends, finished raising their children and enjoyed living the island life.

Anita retired from Erie County Care Facility where she worked in dietary for many years. After retirement, Anita and her husband wintered in Ft. Meade, Florida, for about nine years. Together, they loved to travel. Some of their favorite places were Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Branson, Missouri, and Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. One of their most memorable trips was to Las Vegas, Nevada, with all their children and some of the grandchildren to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

During her free time, you would find her watching Gospel TV. She loved the music and worship. She was a wonderful host for her family and friends. She made the best biscuits and gravy and always made sure you had a good meal. She cherished being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. All of the grandchildren adored her and called her "Granny".

She is survived by her children, John (Brenda) Ferrell of Oregon, Ohio, Scotty (Debora) Ferrell of Covington, Los Angeles, Judith (Tom Reynolds) Ferrell Knight of Fairport Harbor, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Adam, Amanda (Matthew), Andrea (Craig), Nathan (Dominique), Kurt (Robin), Nicholas (Ashley), and Katey (Ian); seven great-grandchildren, Cooper, Brody, Abigail, Lucy, Sophia, Aiden, and Hudson; her sister, Peggy (Douglas) Monk; many nieces; nephews; and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Matilda Scott; husband, Thomas M. Ferrell; her precious son, Larry Thomas Ferrell; sisters, Blanche McConville, Rosalie Sammarco, and Vickie Scott Rogers.

Visitation for friends will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, until the time of the Memorial Service at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Samuel Studer at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. Inurnment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Rd., Huron.
