Ann E. Paul
Jul 21, 1945 - Oct 28, 2025
Marysville
Ann Elizabeth Paul, 80, of Marysville, formerly of Bellevue, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus early Tuesday morning, October 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Known as Annie to her family and friends, she was born July 21, 1945, in Arlington, to the late Kenneth and Ruth (Houdeshell) Long. She was the eldest of four children and helped her mother at home while her dad served in the Korean War.
Annie was a proud 1963 Arlington High School graduate. With a class size totaling 26, Annie was the homecoming queen and doubled as a cheerleader and tuba player for the marching band, changing uniforms at halftime behind the bleachers during the football games. She treasured many lifelong hometown friends.
After graduation, Annie furthered her education at Capital University, earning her B.A. in Education. During her time at Cap, she met Roger Paul, and they had their first date nearly 60 years ago at a Capital football game. They quickly fell in love and married June 10, 1967, beginning 58 years of love, family, friendship, and dedication to one another.
An educator for more than 30 years, beginning at Worthington Schools and settling down in her husband's hometown of Bellevue, she enjoyed 22 years of teaching for Bellevue Schools, mainly as a Kindergarten teacher. She took time to be a stay-at-home mother to her two children while helping to begin St. John's Nursery School. She loved children and was known for singing to and comforting her students.
Her children, Christi and Danny, were the second loves of her life. Being their mother was her greatest accomplishment. During retirement, she and Roger regularly traveled to Atlanta to visit her daughter and her family. In 2020, they moved to Marysville to be close to her son and his family. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Annie loved big-her family, her friends, and, most importantly, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was a longtime and active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue, where she sang (loudly and proudly) in the choir for over 40 years, played in the bell choir, directed the children's choir, and taught Sunday school. She was a prayer warrior. Upon moving to Marysville, she attended Trinity Lutheran Church as well as Cornerstone Global Methodist Church.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Roger; loving children, Christi (Peter) Wurm of Chagrin Falls and Danny (Jody) Paul of Marysville; beloved grandchildren, Ava, Sofie, and Sadie Wurm, Wesley and Freddie Paul; siblings, Sue (Jan) Rossman of Arlington, Richard (Barb) Long of Maui, and Will (Dawn) Long of Findlay; as well as several nieces, nephews, beloved friends, and church family she was blessed to know throughout her life.
Funeral services to celebrate Annie's life will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St., Bellevue, where friends may call one hour prior to service time, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue.
