Anna Jean (Johnson) Shoemo, 89, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at Concord Care of Sandusky after a lengthy illness.
Anna was born July 14, 1933, in Pensacola, Florida, to the late Jesse and Bertha Johnson and was a 1952 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola.
She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching soap operas. Her favorite activities involved spending quality time with her granddaughters and telling stories. As a young woman, she traveled across the country in search of adventure and love. She was a head-strong woman who always worked hard for her dreams and never let anyone discourage her from achieving them. She was a protector, nurturer, and warrior!
Anna is survived by her son, William Barrett; granddaughters, Jacquelyn Burge and Kittana Barrett; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her sisters, Myrtis Wray (2003) and Shirley Likely (2011).
Services were Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, Sandusky Chapel, with the Rev. Tracy Shoemo presiding. Burial is at Oakland Cemetery.

Anna attended church regularly and faithfully for many years at The Meadows at Osborn Park. She prayed for her family consistently. We will miss our friend, Ms. Shoemo.
