Bettyann Guss Obituary

Bettyann (Till) Guss

Jun 18, 1921 - Mar 24, 2024

Sandusky

Bettyann (Till) Guss, 102, of Sandusky, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Stein Hospice Care Center after a two-day stay, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 18, 1921, in Sandusky, to Wesley and Marian Till and was a 1939 graduate of Sandusky High School. She received a scholarship in Chemistry to Heidelberg University.

Bettyann was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, member of the Old House Guild where she was secretary for many years, and was a charter member of American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She loved listening to classical music and loved animals, instilling in children to do the same. She was a woman of many talents including seamstress, gourmet cook, furniture refinisher and builder, designed needlework, and along with her husband, a semi professional dancer. Bettyann was an amazing remarkable kind and generous woman who cared for the heritage of City of Sandusky and was the family historian.

She is survived by her daughters and caregivers, Nanette Guss and Elizabeth Guss, both of Sandusky; son, Christopher Guss of Sandusky; granddaughter, Rebecca (Jim) Hanacek of Solon; and many nieces and nephews.

Bettyann was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Guss in 1993; parents; sisters, Mary Ellen Fletcher and Phyllis Jean Hinde; and brother, William Till.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.
