C. DeCaro Obituary

C. Michael "Mike" DeCaro

Feb 10, 1938 - Jun 29, 2025

Huron

C. Michael "Mike" DeCaro, 87, of Huron, passed away peacefully early Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2025, at Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky.

Born February 10, 1938, in Wooster, the son of Charles Ignatius "Spagette" and Helen (Grande) DeCaro. He was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary's High School and had attended Bowling Green State University. Mike was a veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Air Force.

He had worked for Yellow Freight System for nearly 25 years and later went on to work for Homberger Trucking for almost 10 years before retiring.

Mike, over the years, truly enjoyed playing golf as a member of Plumbrooke Country Club and cards with his high school classmates, especially poker.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Italian-American Beneficial Club, Knights of Columbus Council No. 546, and the Sandusky Orioles Club, Nest No. 279.

Mike is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marlene F. (Camp) DeCaro, whom he married May 6, 1961; two daughters, Michelle M. (Dan) Kaman of Huron, and Melissa A. (Michael) Johnson of Sandusky; his son, Michael P. (Kristin) DeCaro of Lake Elisnore, California; four grandchildren, Daniel (Renay) Kaman and Kayle (Ben) Stover, Ian and Koy DeCaro; three great-grandchildren, Maria and Daniel Kaman III and Dawson Stover; his sister, Patricia A. (Al) Boesch of St. Petersburg, Florida; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

It was his wish to be cremated. Mass of Christian Burial for Mike will be 10 a.m. Saturday morning, July 5, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, with the Rev. Monte Hoyles officiating. Burial will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, in Huron.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.

The DeCaro family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Parkvue Health Care Center and Stein Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided their father during this difficult time. It was truly appreciated.

Arrangements are entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
