Carl Copenhaver Obituary

Punta Gorda, Florida
Carl Williams Copenhaver ("Copey") died Monday, August 18, 2025, as a result of a freak accident while visiting family and friends in Ohio. Copey, born in Willard, Ohio, in 1952, was raised in Norwalk and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1970. His love for sailing took him from Lake Erie to the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and eventually Punta Gorda, Florida, where he married his wife, Becky, and raised their son, Noah.
Copey was a unique individual and a truly one-in-a-million kind of guy who led an interesting and adventurous life that included sailing, camping, and any other opportunity that was new and different with family and friends. He was a kind and caring husband to Becky for 35 years. He was a fully involved father and grandfather of two grandsons. Copey will be missed by his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Barb Truchon, many cousins, extended family members, and countless friends from all walks of life.
Copey joins his parents, Carl and Marge Copenhaver, along with family and too many good friends, in a place that was prepared for him. He is survived by his wife Becky; son Noah; daughter-in-law, Tarquin; and two grandsons, Becklan and Gaelle, who will continue his legacy.
A farewell celebration will be Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Punta Gorda, Florida, to share memories and adventures of a man who lived a full life, without regrets.

A friend for so many years. Began when he started mowing lawns with Becky, myself and a few others! Enjoyed many sailing outings and a lot a Jimmy Buffet songs with a Rum chaser.
Too many memories to mention but oh so many that I will always remember and cherish!
God Bless you Copey and bless Becky, Noah and all of your living family.
