Sandusky

Carol A. Icsman, 90, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Friday, June 1, 2024.

Carol was born May 21, 1934, to Edwin and Clara (Mainzer) Moosbrugger. She married George H. Icsman on Oct. 14, 1967.

She loved singing, performing, and socializing. Carol was a founding member of Fireland's Chorus and member of St. Mary's and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church choirs. She was an active member of Sandusky Yacht Club.

Carol also enjoyed attending performances at Cleveland Playhouse Square, crossword puzzles, and playing cards and board games with her grandchildren.

Carol retired after 35 years from Ohio Bell, first as a switchboard operator and finally as a telephone service rep. She worked at Providence Hospital and finished her working career with Dan Schiefley Realty.

Carol is survived by her son, Todd (Connie) Icsman; grandchildren, Jessica (Wayne) Crawford, Jacob Icsman, Julianna (Alfie) Jordan, and Jade (Danny) Powell; and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Noah Crawford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; and siblings, Howard, Donald, and Raymond Moosebrugger, Ellen McChesney, and Alice Blakely.

Visitation for friends will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, until the time of Carol's memorial services at 3 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Bill Burch will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either Firelands Chorus, 314 W. Market St., Sandusky, or Sandusky State Theater, 107 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.

Carol will be laid to rest with her parents in a private ceremony at a later date.

Always enjoyed seeing Carol on stage at The Firelands Chorus concerts. She and Al Wintersteller were not only great singers but true performers as well. What a wonderful and cheerful lady. She will be missed by so many. RIP Carol

I loved Carol and will ALWAYS be eternally grateful to Carol for bailing us out at our community Christmas party a few years back when the chorus we hired backed out at the last minute. She came and did a solo concert with a Christmas Carol sing-a-long for us!
I accompanied Carol at some of the player piano club collector Christmas parties on West Main Street in Norwalk and she was ALWAYS the hit of the party! She was a gem and knew how to have a fun time. Don't get too serious!
Carol, here's to you XXOO!
