Charles "Chuck" Alva Hacker, 86, residing in Sandusky, passed away and joined his heavenly Father on Friday morning, Oct. 28, 2022, at The Meadows at Osborn Park.

Chuck was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Sandusky, to the late Leonard "Ted" Bixby and Erma Catherine (Heyman) Hacker.

Chuck lived and was raised in Castalia and graduated from Margaretta High School in 1954. He worked for a year as a meat cutter at Mark's Pick N Pay and then joined U.S. in 1955. Chuck was honorably discharged after serving 17 months in Korea. He was a long-time member of VFW. Chuck worked at various job over the years, among which were a driver-salesman for C.H. He retired in 1985.

Chuck married Dianne E. Weisz on July 24, 1960, and they built their first home in Castalia. They later moved to 46th St. in Sandusky, where they resided for 34 years. They also enjoyed their part-time home on Kelleys Island for 33 years.

Chuck was known for always having a smile on his face and enjoying people no matter where he was. In the family, he was known for his being able to "fix" anything and he was always called upon by his daughters to remedy a problem that arose. Chuck especially enjoyed cooking, working in the yard, attending his monthly class luncheons, and most of all, spending time with his family.

He was the proud father of three daughters, Melissa (Ty) Senelath of Lake Los Vegas, Nevada, Leanne (Charles) White of Delaware, Ohio, and Andrea (Todd) McKillips of Sandusky; grandchildren he adored, Lexis, Lindsay, and Laci McKillips, and Tyler and Dylan McConahay; stepgrandchildren, Chase and Morgun White; great-grandsons, Carter McConahay and Torryn Gillard-Adkins; sisters, Alyce Ann Felske and Jane Hoelzer, both of Castalia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Hacker in 2017; and sisters, Pearl Lydia Schmitt and twin, Carol Balduff.

Chuck (and Dianne) were the the most kind and loving people I have ever met. New to Ohio, they made my family and me feel welcome and cherished. We will always remember the weekends spent with them at Kelley's Island and visiting several times after we returned to Pennsylvania. I loved them both like family and will never forget their guidance and friendship. Very, very special people. To their family, you were truly blessed, and I hope you are finding comfort in the Lord during this sorrowful time.
