Michael "Mike" James Riesterer, 78, residing in Huron, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 4, 2026, at Stein Hospice after a lengthy illness.

Michael was born June 18, 1947, in Sandusky, to the late Regis "Ned" and Mildred (Petrick) Riesterer.

Michael graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1965 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics from The Ohio State University. He began his career at Third National Bank in Sandusky, later working at several financial institutions before retiring as CEO of Community First Federal Credit Union in Ashtabula.

Michael was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a man of deep faith. He enjoyed golfing, listening to music by Ricky Nelson and Bee Gees, and watching old movies and detective shows. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Mike will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul and a genuinely good man.

Michael is survived by his wife of eight and a half, Janet (Koelsch) Riesterer; his daughter, Amy Logan and her mother Pat; son, Eric Riesterer; bonus daughter, Joann (Keith) Hughes; grandchildren, Michael McCabe and Adrian (Mia) Hughes; three great-grandchildren; brother, Chuck (Sue) Riesterer; sister-in-law, Connie (Peter) Catri; brothers-in-law, Denny Kuba, Gary (Carol) Koelsch, Richard (Betty) Koelsch, Curt (Marie) Koelsch, Tony (Angi) Koelsch, Mark (Kathy) Koelsch, Lowell Peck, Gary (JoAnn) Kuebbeler and Bill (Sue) Kuebbeler; cat, Dashell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his late wife, Brenda (Kuebbeler) Riesterer, in 2014; sister, Karen Kuba; sister-in-law, JoAnne Peck; and his beagle, Holly.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave. Sandusky, with Father Chris Turner presiding. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
