Charles M. Pascoe, 89, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025, at his residence.

Charlie was born May 30, 1936, in Sandusky, to the late Milton C. and Marie M. (Maunus) Pascoe.

Charlie was a 1954 graduate from Sandusky High School and received his bachelor's degree from Hobart College in Geneva, New York, where he was a member of Sigma Chi International Fraternity. He returned to Sandusky to work with his father and uncle in the family insurance business, Pascoe Agency, Inc. and continued his education at the University of Toledo where he received Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (C.P.C.U.) designation.

He married his first wife, Caroline Cummings, in 1963, and they had two children, Julie and Kristen. They were divorced in 1980. He remarried in 1992 to Pearl Hartwig Scheid.

As a young man, Charlie was a member of Sandusky Jaycees, serving on the board of directors for most of his membership years and serving as president in 1964. He served as chairman of the first Miss Ohio Pageant held in Sandusky and went on to serve as pageant judge chairman for many years. Upon retiring from the Jaycees, he was awarded a life membership and an International Senatorship, the Jaycees' highest honor. He received their "Young Man of the Year" award in 1968 and their "Distinguished Service Award" in 2001.

Charlie was very active civicly and served on Heart Fund Board in 1968 and March of Dimes Board in 1969. He was a member of the YMCA from 1952 until 2017 and was on the board of directors for 50 years. He was a member of the Property Committee, serving as chairman for most of those years and being responsible for the construction of the first phase of the Perkins Avenue YMCA. He served on the board of the Sandusky Chamber of Commerce from 1966 to 1969. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Erie County for 41 years, serving as president for one term and serving as chairman of the allocations committee. During his tenure on the committee, over $20 million was distributed to various United Way agencies. He was also a member of Mylander Foundation Distribution Committee for many years and served on the board of directors of North Central TV, prior to its sale to Buckeye CableSystem.

Charlie was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1959 to 1966 in the Howitzer Battery of the Third Squadron of the 107th Armored Cavalry Division as Fire Direction Control Officer. He was a 50-plus-year member of Masonic F. & A. M. Perseverance Lodge No. 329. He and his brother, Tom, sponsored the "Pascoe Cup Race", an offshore sailboat race in a figure 8 course around Kelleys Island and Put-In-Bay. From 1968 to 1971, he was a member of Perkins Township Fire Department under Chief Harmon Bruens.

Charlie sponsored a young girl from the Dominican Republic through the "Save the Children" program, enabling her to complete high school. He then sponsored her through college. He visited her many times during this period and corresponded with her afterwards. He spent many summers and a few winters on Kelleys Island, a place dear to his heart. He became a resident in 1970 and was appointed to the Village Council a few years later. He was a past member of the Sandusky Sailing Club, the Sandusky Yacht Club, the Huron Yacht Club and Plum Brook Country Club.

Charlie loved adventure, and during his life, he learned to fly and skydive, bungee jumped off the New Zealand bridge where bungee jumping originated, ballooned several times in the U.S. and in Kenya, and raced in offshore powerboat races. He loved to fish, hunt, and boat. He and his wife, Pearl, loved to travel, visiting 49 states and 93 countries while circumnavigating the globe on three occasions.
