Cherry L. (Vinnicombe) Koester, 95, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday evening, Aug. 29, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Cherry was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Wooster, England.
Cherry was a veteran of the English Army and served during World War II. She was a press operator at Barr Rubber Products Company for 30 years, where she was also selected President of the union. Cherry also worked at JCPenney for five years. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Cherry loved being busy. She enjoyed making her grandchildren capes and Halloween costumes, quilting, knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, and gardening. She was a wonderful gardener.
Cherry is survived by three daughters, Rosemary Layton, Susan (Kent) Milhouse, and Jamie (Rich Tewers) Milner; grandchildren, Monica Fletcher, Ashley Van Winkle, Andrew Putt, Brian Zsedenyi, Jennifer, Megan and Zach Milhouse, Jessica Gomez, and Matthew and Michael Milner; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and lifetime friend, Norma McFadden.
Cherry was preceded in death by her husband, Dean N. Koester on Jan. 12, 1998; daughter, Wendy Zsedenyi; son, Michael Putt; mother, Beryl Leidorf; father, William Vinnicombe; and brother, Anthony Vinniecombe.
Friends may call 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, until the time of Cherry's funeral at 1 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Dr. Brian K. Wilbert will officiate. Burial will follow at Venice Cemetery, Sandusky.
