Cheryl Covey, 66, of Norwalk, passed away at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky Friday, March 28, 2025. She was born on September 12, 1958, in Fostoria to Robert and Ellen Russell.

After graduating from high school in Coronado, California, in 1976, Cheryl enlisted in the Army, where she worked as an Administrative Specialist. Upon the completion of her service, she returned to Bloomville, Ohio, with her daughter, Becky, to be near her family. She is an alumnus of Terra State Community College, Franklin University, and Capella University, where she graduated with her Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Instructional Design for Online Learning in 2008. During her career, she taught computer classes locally at Ohio Business College in Sandusky.

Cheryl loved helping others, often coming to the rescue for friends when computer issues arose. She adored spending time with her family, cooking, crafting, and camping with her friends at Indian Trail Campground.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Russell; and her beloved grandson, Micaiah Drennen.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Matthew) Drennen; her son, Timothy (Tyler) Covey; her brothers, James (Sharon) Russell, Richard (Sandy) Russell, and Robert Russell; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be noon-3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 408 Townline Rd. 131 W., Norwalk. Cheryl will be laid to rest near her parents in a private graveside service Monday April 7, 2025. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.
