Christina (Chris) Zimmermann, 79, of Huron, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Parkvue Nursing Facility after a long battle with COPD.
She was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Manhattan, New York, to Antonio and Domenica Lettich. Chris grew up in Hell's Kitchen, the fourth oldest out of eight children.
In Nov., 1966, Chris married the love of her life, Peter Zimmermann. They lived in New Jersey and raised their two sons, Peter and Marc. For five years, they built a life in Colorado, but later returned to New Jersey and then Pocono, Pennsylvania. In Aug., 2006, Peter passed away, leaving her heartbroken. She then moved to Huron to be near her family.
Chris is survived by her sons, Peter (Susan) and Marc (Angela); five grandchildren, Rachel, Molly (Jake), Nicholas, Lauren, and Bryan; two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Oliver; brother, Anthony (Lorraine) Lettich; and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, and many good friends.
She was preceded in death her parents; and siblings, Mary Bracco, Victor Lettich, Joan Barker, Paul Lettich, Richard Lettich, and RoseAnne Cipriano.
The family wishes to thank all of her doctors that have taken care of her along with family and friends for all of their support over the years.
Per Chris' wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Huron Rescue Squad, 413 Main St., Huron, Ohio, 44839.

I met Chris at Camp Talako in 1956. I was a counselor from Lincoln, Nebraska. She was a senior camper. For some reason, we took a liking to each other that lasted until she passed away. Our relationship was mostly by telephone until she and her family moved for a few years to Colorado when we became neighbors for a few years. Chris and I learned a lot from each other over the years because we came from very different places and backgrounds. I deeply admire the way she adored her husband and how she raised her children. She was entrepreneurial and brave in choosing how she led her life. I will miss our phone calls and have always missed her spaghetti sauce since she left Colorado. Knowing her enriched my life.
