Claire Irene (Novitsky) Spero, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, in Sandusky.

Claire was born Sept. 10, 1936, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to Stanley and Anna Novitsky. She attended Brunswick High School.

Claire worked many years for Brunswick City Schools Board of Education. Later in life, she moved to Catawba Island to be closer to her son and his family. Claire loved spending time with her children and their wives, her grandchildren, and her girlfriends. She loved flowers and gardening, reading, roller skating, cats and dogs, going to the movies, eating ice cream, camping and boating, traveling, and was a life-long fan of Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.

Claire is survived by her son, Kenneth (Bonnie) Spero; grandchildren, Jamie Spero and Brittany Spero; daughter-in-law, Connie Spero; and her sister and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Anna Novitsky; husband, Simon Spero; and son, Keith Spero.

In lieu of funeral services and flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Island Safe Harbor Animal Rescue, 3620 E. State Road, Port Clinton.
