Connie Grimani Obituary

Connie K. Grimani

Sep 29, 1941 - Jan 22, 2025

Sandusky

Connie K. (Karbler) Grimani, 83, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 22, 2025, surrounded by her husband and five daughters, after a lengthy battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

She was born September 29, 1941, in Sandusky, the daughter of Paul Leland and Anna Rose (Printy) Karbler. Connie graduated from St. Mary's High School and was a longtime parishioner at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. After raising her family, she worked as a dental receptionist with Dr. James Dellasantina, DDS, for more than 25 years.

Connie will be remembered for her smile that lit up every room, her infectious laugh and her wonderful sense of humor. One of her favorite things to do was entertaining family and friends in her home. Visitors, whether they knew her for one day or for a lifetime, always commented on how fun she was to be around and how she always made them feel right at home. Her legacy will live on through the many beautiful family holiday traditions she set. Her children and grandchildren are still trying to master her legendary Thanksgiving gravy.

Playing cards was one of her favorite pastimes with family and friends. She loved hosting card clubs and teaching her children and grandchildren how to play to win. Connie was an expert shopper. Her daughters and granddaughters proudly admit that they have inherited this love of browsing and finding that perfect item.

She also cherished fishing with her family. She instilled a deep love of fishing in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who enjoy using her many lessons today. Connie and Carl enjoyed bowling on teams with friends for many years and supporting the Playmakers Civic Theatre productions in Port Clinton for more than 20 years.

Above all, Connie's love as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend is ultimately what she will be remembered for.

Connie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Carl M. Grimani, whom she married October 25, 1961; her five daughters, Lori (Dan) Dahs, Lisa (James) Sabo, Kris (Dean) Roth, Carrie (Ric) Gwin and Dina (Charlie) McGowan; her 13 grandchildren, Tyler (Katie) Dahs, Abbey (Kyle) Koch, Maxwell (Lanie) Dahs, Carly Sabo, Natalie (Tyler) Dix, Brittan (Douglas) Priestas, Erika (Chad) McGuire, Marina (Eric) Gast, Lainy Gwin, Campbell Gwin, Maggie McGowan, Carl (Annie Warner) McGowan and Gretchen McGowan; her 19 great-grandchildren, Cayden, Delaney, Mila, Kallie, Jaxson, Emma, Millie, James, Jett, Audrey, Hudson, Emmy, Stella, Henry, Finn, Josie, Ty, Wil and Wes; her sister, Judi (Del) Nesbit; her two brothers, Kevin Karbler and Kit (Dmitri Rudenko) Karbler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson, Cal Gast; and two brothers, Tim and Terry Karbler.

It was her wish to be cremated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, with the Rev. Prashanth Kumar officiating. A private family inurnment service will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or The Meadows at Osborn Park Activity Fund, 3916 Perkins Avenue, Huron, OH 44839.

Arrangements are entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH.

Connie was one of Judy's best friends in high school. That friendship blossomed into a close couples' friendship after marriage. we enjoyed so much fun and laughter during the early years of our marriages. Connie's smile, sense of humor, and friendliness were always so welcoming. She was kind and strong when facing adversity. We loved her. We offer our sympathy to Carl and their beautiful family.

My heart is breaking for the Grimani family. She was the sweetest person, full of life. She will be remembered for her kind and thoughtful ways of treating others. She will always be my rock in life. Till we meet again, behave. Get those cards warmed up, and find an Ev´s Corners up there. Hugs for her family.
