Courtney Elizabeth Kuhl

Cleveland
Courtney Kuhl, 30, residing in Cleveland, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 7, 2024.
Courtney was born Sept. 6, 1994, in Sandusky to Scott and Mary (Williams) Kuhl.
Courtney graduated from Edison High School in 2012, she attended college at Miami University of Ohio, and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor's of Science in Education. Courtney then went on to even further her education at Ursuline College and graduated with a Master's Degree in Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment in May of 2023. She was employed as a teacher at Urban Community School (USC) in Cleveland where she taught for 10 years. She was also a manager and server at Avo Modern Mexican restaurant in Cleveland.
Courtney loved fiercely. Her family, friends, and students were her greatest gifts that were so near and dear to her heart. From a young age, Courtney showed kindness and beamed with sunshine wherever she went and with whomever she was interacting with. Courtney's parents, Scott and Mary, were her biggest role models, yet she may not have known that she was the bigger role model to them. She loved to tease her sisters, but was always right by their sides for their most important milestones.
Courtney had a passion for learning and reading at a young age, as she had numerous teachers and mentors in her life who helped shape her into the selfless, heroic teacher that she was. Her entire teaching career was at Urban Community School where she made an incredible impact on hundreds, if not thousands of students and their families in such a short time. From student teaching at UCS, to earning her very own classroom, to teaching her last class. Courtney made sure every child was cared for as she saw growth in each one. She made sure no child was left behind.
Courtney crossed so many milestones off her "to-do list" from traveling to Europe, gaining her Master's Degree, and seeing her little sister, Melissa's new home in Phoenix. She was so excited to become an Aunt to Cari and Austin's baby due this February. Courtney had an adventurous and welcoming spirit that was cut too short.
Courtney loved her boyfriend, Devon, and her two cats, Monty and Ricky. Courtney found so much joy in gift giving and seeing the excitement on the faces of those receiving. Courtney loved biking and exploring pockets of Cleveland. She gained happiness when walking to Edgewater Park with a new book in hand and playing volleyball with her friends and sisters. Courtney will be passionately missed every day, and her spirit and kindness will live on.
Courtney is survived by her parents; her two sisters, Cari (Austin) Shafer and Melissa Kuhl; grandmother, Jeanine Williams; boyfriend, Devon Donerlson; best friend, Mac Clough; and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Courtney is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, David and Margaret Kuhl; maternal grandfather, John Williams; and her cousin, Elizabeth Ackley in infancy.
Visitation for friends will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E.
