Craig Ahlers Obituary

Craig R. Ahlers

Mar 14, 1974 - Feb 7, 2025

Sandusky

Craig R. Ahlers, 50, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Friday evening, February 7, 2025, at his home from natural causes.

He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1992 and worked in ride maintenance at Cedar Point Amusement Park for over 20 years.

Craig was a loving father and father figure to many, including his nieces and nephews. He always enjoyed time with family, especially with his children and grandchildren. Craig welcomed everyone into his home and loved a house full of fun and laughter. He always looked forward to warmer months to enjoy the outdoors with cookouts and swimming. Craig also enjoyed movie time with family and friends and watching all Ohio sports teams. Bowling leagues were a favorite activity, and they were where he met the love of his life. Craig endured many challenges throughout his lifetime but showed an immense amount of strength through it all. He taught others to be strong and always extended a helping hand and a caring heart to others.

Craig is survived by his mother, Suzann Ahlers; father, Richard Wigley; his three children, Courtney Cobern, Sadie Ahlers and Lucas Ahlers; two grandchildren, Makenna and SJ; a sister, Caryn (Jeff) Wagner; a niece, Ashley Ahlers, who he was to walk down the aisle to Gabrion Alexander this September; nephew, Sheyden Ahlers; great-nephews, Akye, Cisco and Myles; his uncles, Steve, Tom, and Scott (Marlene) Ahlers; and multiple cousins.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Carrie Caudill; a stepson, Michael Cobern; maternal grandparents, Edmund and Arlene Ahlers; paternal grandparents, Stan and Mable Plottner; and a niece, Tiyana Faith Ahlers.

It was his wish to be cremated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky, with the Rev. Prashanth Kumar officiating. Following the funeral service, a "celebration of Craig's life" will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Church parish hall. The family invites all relatives and friends to attend.

The family suggests that contributions may be made in his name to his children.

Arrangements are entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH.

My memories of Craig are of a soft spoken, hard working, and caring young man. It appears he carried these admirable traits throughout his life. God bless you Craig and God bless your family.
