Daniel J. "Dan" David, 80, of Monroeville, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, May 27, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
Dan was born June 29, 1943, in Sandusky, the son of Harold August and Phyllis Lucille (Lamb) David. He was a 1961 graduate of Perkins High School. Dan was a veteran, having served honorably in U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Over the years, he worked at Sandusky Foundry and Machine for many years then at Erie Coal Docks and Norfolk Southern Railroad. Dan owned and operated Lake Wilmer Inn for 37 years before retiring.
He'll be remembered by his family for his love of the outdoors and how he loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and working in his yard.
Dan was a member of NRA, American Legion Post #83, V.F.W. Post #2529, A.M.V.E.T.S. Post #17, Huron Eagles Lake Erie Aerie #2875, Sandusky Athletic Club, and other local clubs.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Daniel P. David of New York; stepdaughter, Amber Melson of Monroeville; four grandchildren, Jairus, Cameron, and Lauren Tanna, and Kedrick Harrison-David; stepgranddaughter, Kristen Rose Maag; five great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Elijah, Priya, Silias, and Zara Tanna; brother, Phillip M. David of Monroeville; and nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott David; daughter, Annette F. Tanna; companion of 28 years, Lori Berardi; brother, Harold A. David II; and sister-in-law, Jayne David.
It was his wish to be cremated.
Dan's celebration of life will be at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his name to Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street,
