David Arthur Abram, 81, went home to the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2023, with his loving wife by his side after a long illness.

David was born June 1, 1941, in Valley City, to Arthur Carl and Mariah (nee Zacharias) Abram. He was raised in Valley City and lived in Columbia Station and Greenwich on his beloved farm.

David retired to Pittsfield for the last 12 years of his life where he enjoyed the rural outdoors, family, and friends.

After high school, David joined his father in the family "Abram" business in Olmsted Falls as a mechanic at a Texaco service station. David and his father were active in the farming community in Valley City, managing livestock and farming services.

David was stationed in New London, Connecticut, from 1965-1967 on USS Hardhead as a MM3SS E-5 after attendance on the USS COD in Cleveland and Lake Michigan Naval Reserves (1963-1965), with active duty during the Vietnam War (1965-1967) and Reservist (1967-1969). After duty to his country, he entered Millwright Local Union 1871 in Cleveland, where he retired in 1998.

David was an avid outdoorsman, boatsman and fisherman. He loved his farm, tractors, machinery, and environmental activities.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jennifer (nee Matey); children he was the proud father to, Dale (Martha) Abram and Jennifer (Daniel) Miller; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Margaret Coleman.

The family would like to thank to loving staff of Welcome Nursing Home, Oberlin, for the wonderful care given to David.

David's graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, 1377 Lester Road, Valley City, with full military honors.
