David Lewis Collins, 63, Sandusky, passed away in his sleep Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at his residence.

He was born April 25, 1961, in Sandusky, to Robert T. and Willie Mae (Matthews) Collins.

David was well-liked by many in the neighborhood. He faithfully cut grass and shoveled snow for many of the seniors in the community. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, even when they did not play very well. David enjoyed grilling outside. However what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved his family.

David will surely be missed. He leaves to mourn his memory his daughters, Brittany Redding of Columbus, Natasha Collins of Chicago, Illinois, and Danielle Collins of Sandusky; son, Deontae Collins of Sandusky; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Donna) Collins Jr. and Fred (Sharon) Collins of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters, Akilah (Celenia) Blakwomyn of California and Barbara Collins of Williston; special friends, Wanda and Lovell Terrell, Emma Moore, Danny Surry, Margie Anderson, and Mike Bumphus; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley; parents; grandparents; sister, Cora Lee Palmer; and niece, Shawndelle Palmer.

Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, until the time of David's funeral at 12 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
