David P. Gibson "Hot Dog Dave", of Sandusky, passed away from an extended illness in the care of Stein Hospice.

Dave was born July 17, 1943, in Sandusky, always known to his family as a national holiday.

Dave was a gifted and avid pool player for 70 years, loved all sports, and was a voracious reader his whole life. He enjoyed 15 fun-filled years as Hot Dog Dave. He will always be remembered for his friendly sense of humor. He had a smile, handshake, and hug for everyone.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Madeline Ventline; daughters, Ellen (Fred) Rohrbacher of Sandusky, Janet (Jim) Sears of Medina, Mary (Paul) Fowler of Zurich, Switzerland, and Kristin (Mark) Brooks of Maumee; son-in-law, Van Andres of Sylvania; and grandchildren, Joshua (Megan) Rohrbacher and Olivia Rohrbacher, Patrick and Noah Andres, and Kelsey Brooks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Mary Gibson; brothers, Gary, Lyle, and Richard; sister, Carol; former wife, Geraldine Lentz; and beloved daughter, Kelli Andres, in 2016.

Friends may call 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, until the time of David's funeral at 4 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Carolyn Steinfeldt will officiate.
