When Dave entered Heaven unexpectedly in the morning of Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, he was with his wife, Pam, at their home in Port Clinton and it was ironic that it was 10 years to the day that their heart dog, Peanut, left them to await the first of her owners to arrive over that famous Rainbow Bridge.

David was born March 8, 1957, in Port Clinton. He spent his life quietly becoming that 'go-to' guy we now don't know what we are going to do without. He had well over 40 years in the marine mechanical business. The local boating community was proud to call him friend and for years, looked to him for guidance and repairs.

Dave's love for boating caused he and Pam to spend many an afternoon of their lives together at favorite fishing holes or cruising the islands of Lake Erie. Of hobbies, Dave's amazing abilities to refinish antique boats extended that same creativeness and attention to detail into the incredible and painstaking stained-glass creations he made. But what really defined Dave? It was his virtually unmatched passion for the outdoors. Deer blinds and walking the fields with gun in hand for pheasants and other upland birds, mornings or afternoons at the hunt club, and sharing stories, he was at 'home.' He loved his dogs and more notably, they loved him and his soft spoken words. And, ummmmm… when it comes to hunting… did we mention Dave was a pretty good shot?

Going to the same high school and marrying in 1982, Dave and Pam through their lives experienced that close and comfortable relationship we all seek. What can be said about Dave is that love for his wife and home life made him complete. He will be truly missed by all.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Pamala S. (Lakin) Kubasek; mother, Donna J. (Hummel) Stewart; sister, Diane (Kubasek) Keegan and her husband, Thomas Keegan; sister, Debra (Kubasek) Ballard; brother, Harold Kubasek Jr.; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Lakin) Orosz; sister-in-law, Patricia Lakin; niece, Danielle Lakin; nephews, Benjamin Lakin and Quintin Orosz; and great-nephew, Lucas Russell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold J. Kubasek Sr.; stepfather, Orlyn Stewart; brother-in-law, Danny Lakin; and paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, 43452. David's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
