Clyde
David Matter, 83, of Clyde, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1939, in Bellevue, Ohio, the son of Amos and May (Hughes) Matter.
David served in U.S. Army as a mechanic and was stationed in France during the Cold War. He was employed by Whirlpool Corporation for 40 years where he worked as a maintenance millwright. David loved to fish, attend flea markets, and auctions, and was an avid collector of all things. Most of all, David loved his family and cherished the time he got to spend with them.
He is survived by his children, Shawn (Brenda) Matter, Deanna (Gary Vera) Matter, Sara Roach, and Marjorie (David) Ingram; stepson, David Monday; and sisters, Dorothy (Darrell) VanHoosier and Fern (Clarence "Shorty") Dietz. David was a grandfather to many.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Monday) Matter; and son, Eric Matter.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Foos Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde. David's funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at McPherson Cemetery. A luncheon will take place following committal at Clyde Eagles.
Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
