David Randall Ridenour, 80, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, February 23, 2026, at home.

David was born November 22, 1945, in Shelby, to the late Shirley Joan (Young) and Clayton Ridenour.

David graduated from Attica High School and continued his education at Bowling Green State University Firelands. He proudly earned his private pilot's license, reflecting his love of aviation and adventure. Throughout his life, David held a variety of positions. He worked at Scott Paper Company and at NASA's Plum Brook Station, where he served in radiation controls. He also worked as a receiving manager at Elder-Beerman and Sears, and was employed by Bechtel McLaughlin. In addition, David managed the State Theater alongside the Jeffersons and was involved with the Community Theater.

David was deeply active in his church and community. He volunteered with the Welcome Table, assisted with Bloodmobiles, and participated in the Conestoga project. He served as a representative for Lutheran Memorial Home of Ohio and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. A proud and longtime president of the Car Coddlers, David was also a member of American Legion, IAB Club, Eagles No. 444, Orioles Club and Antique Automobile Club of America.

David is survived by his wife of 58 years, Deanna (McVetta) Ridenour, whom he married April 8, 1967. He is also survived by his daughters, Shannon (Mark) Blevins and Shayri Lawson; grandchildren, Shayne (Ashley) Blevins, Shaun (Emma Kastor) Blevins, Madilynn Lawson, and Logan Lawson; great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Ridenour; brother-in-law, Dr. Rod McVetta; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his grandparents, uncles and nephews.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2026, at Meadow Green Funeral Home, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron, with Pastor Michael Conklin presiding. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
