Dennis "Denny" Luma, 67, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 13, 2023, at his home in Huron.

He was born Aug. 30, 1955, in Sandusky, to Bernard and Patricia (Holtzapple) Luma.

Denny was a 1973 graduate of Margaretta High School in Castalia. He played tackle on the varsity football team becoming the most valuable player.

After graduation, he was employed at Vulcan Materials in Sandusky as a foreman leaving in 1982 to work at Bat Shelder-Baylord in Chicago as a General Manager for one year. He furthered his career while employed by Wabash Alloys in 1983 becoming a supervisor and worked his way to Vice President of Operations. During this time, he earned his MBA in 1993. In 2001, he became President and Chief Operating Officer of Superior Aluminum Alloys in New Haven, Indiana, retiring in 2022.

Denny's biggest passion was restoring his '63 Nova, '49 Cadillac, '49 Buick, and '46 Chevy Cab Over. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Road King and loved his cats.

Denny leaves behind his wife, Christine (Wyatt) Luma; daughters, Tiffany Luma of Columbus and Tevon Luma of Fort Wayne, Indiana; granddaughter, Makaila Luma of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Michael Luma (Birdie) of Castalia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Otis and Althea Holtzapple; and brothers, Kevin and Bruce Luma.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023, until the time of Denny's service at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 East Perkins Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Entombment will take place at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Denny was such a vood person to Rich and I. Rich worked tiresly for Denny for over 20 years. SadlyRich just passed away Sunday July 7th 2024. They are both missed greatly

I am so sorry that Denny´s life came at such an earlier time than we all think.
I admired his Mother, Pat so very much. She raised a wonderful family.
I have 4 sons and 1daughter. I had always wanted my sons to turn out like her´s and Bernie´s. They did.
My heart goes out to the whole family as I find this out. May God bless all of you.

Our deepest sympathy goes to Dennys family. I to worked for Denny at Wabash Alloy plant in Dickson. Just starting out in the workforce and he makes me a supervisor. Still in the business today after 35 years. I can say i owe it all to him. The best plant manager I had a privilege to work for. May God comfort Dennys family in this time of loss.

Denny gave me my first real Job in Dickson Tn in 1988. Here I am 35 years later and still in the industry. He was a great man. I´m so sorry for your loss. I pray Gods blessings on you and your family.
