Dixie Lee (Rickard) Cruz, 75, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Sept. 27, 2022, at Providence Care Center.
Dixie was born Aug. 28, 1947, in Sandusky, to the late Wilbert "Sonny" and Blanche Jean (Holeton) Rickard.
Dixie loved her coffee and cooking for family, especially at her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. She was one of a kind, always happy, and loved spending time with her family.
Dixie is survived by her granddaughter, Emmah Smith; nephews, Terry (Norma) Rickard and Paul Rickard; son-in-law, Kevin Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester "Shorty" Cruz; daughters, Denise "Nikki" Cruz and Jean Cruz-Smith; two brothers; and a sister.
Dixie's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Dave Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
