Djuan Seavers Obituary

Djuan Jamar "Huck" Seavers

Jan 22, 1982 - Jan 25, 2024

Sandusky

Djuan Jamar "Huck" Seavers, 42, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024.

He was born Jan. 22, 1982, in Sandusky, to Elder Willie Irby Sr. and Bridget Seavers. Djuan was affectionately known to most as "Huck," which was shortened from a line from his favorite movie Tombstone ("I'll be your Huckelberry."). If you had the pleasure of knowing Huck, then you truly understood the phrase "To know me, is to love me." Huck was a member of Jesus Saves Through Faith North under the leadership of Pastor Edward Gresham. He rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized in September, 2022. Huck loved to ride four-wheelers, dance, and play spades, all in an animated way. You could hear his knuckles hit the table - especially on a good hand - while he yelled, "Bring 'em out!" Some would say he was the funniest person they ever met, missing his calling of being a stand-up comedian. No matter what he was doing or where he was, Djuan never hesitated to share a scripture or, as his family would say, "A philosophy."

Leaving to cherish his heartfelt memories are his mother, Bridget Seavers; stepmom, Margie Irby; beloved and only son, Davion Seavers; stepdaughter, Kaleigh Harris; two sisters, Briana (Shawn) Seavers, of Dalzell, South Carolina, and Brittany (Antoine) Seavers of Sandusky; three brothers, Darcell (Alecia) Irby of Anderson, Indiana, Willie Irby Jr. (US Army), and Pastor Edward (Ebony) Gresham of Sandusky; four nieces; nine nephews; special great-nephew, "Papa"; a host of other relatives, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and special cousins, Keandre Seavers and Steven Wooten; longtime friends, Irene Sudds, Bobbie Kaiser, and Aldreeta Kennedy; and amazing mother to his son and confidant, Angela "Felica" Alvarez.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elder Willie Irby Sr.; paternal grandparents, Lamon Sr. and Lucy Bernice Irby; maternal grandparents, William Sr. and Asa Seavers; maternal grandfather, William Henry Moore Sr.; and brother, Johnnie "Darrin" Gresham.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, until the time of Huck's funeral at 12 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Pastor Joseph Strong will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
