Donald Bouy Obituary

Donald J. "Don" Bouy Sr.

Feb 25, 1942 - Oct 1, 2022

Sandusky

Donald J. Bouy, 80, of Sandusky, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 25, 1942, in Sandusky, to Frank J. and Hilda (Hermes) Bouy. Don spent his childhood learning about the dairy industry from his father, eventually adopting the same noble profession. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1960, often reminiscing on the fond memories and mischievous adventures he shared with his classmates and friends.

Don married the love of his life, Judith Pluckhorn on April 4, 1964. Over their 58 years together, they cultivated a legacy of love, which has been a model to their children and grandchildren.

Don's love for farming, especially dairy cattle, was evident to all who knew him. He was proud of his 50 years milking cows and grateful to pass his work ethic, passion for agriculture, and family farm on to the next generations.

Outside of farming, Don's greatest joy was his family. His children and grandchildren were his favorite topic of conversation and he was frequently found supporting their athletic events, livestock shows, and other activities â€" usually with a bag of popcorn in hand.

Don was an active member of several community organizations. He served on Bellevue Milk Producers Board and was an officer of both Perkins and St. Mary's Athletic Booster Clubs. He was also President of South Hayes Farm Bureau Council and a longtime member of American Legion.

Don is survived by his wife, Judy Bouy; sons, John (Amy) Bouy and Tom (Barb) Bouy; daughter, Beth (Todd) Cutler; grandchildren, Jessica (Austin) George, Tiffany (Caleb) Frisch, Tyler (Melanie) Bouy, Tim Cutler, Emily Cutler, Jake Bouy, and Zack Bouy; and great-grandchildren, Trenton, Coleton, and Lucas George, and Xander, Tanner, and Keller Frisch. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Geraldine Bouy, Joyce Bouy, and Jeanette Quilter; and two brothers, Frank W. Bouy and Melvin Bouy (in infancy).

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at David F. Koch Funeral & Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A prayer service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at the funeral home followed by 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Zach Brown will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Don's memory to the Charles Waldock Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Perkins Local Schools, 3714 Campbell St., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, OH, 44870, or Erie County 4-H Outstanding 4-H Boy/Girl Award Fund in care of Erie County 4-H Committee, 2900 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870 (make checks payable to Erie County 4-H Committee).
