Donald Morgan Obituary

Donald C. Morgan

Sep 5, 1940 - Nov 3, 2024

Lorain

Donald C. "Don" Morgan, 84, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, at The Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Ashland, Ohio, with his loving family by his side.

He was born Sept. 5, 1940, to the late Painter and Flora Morgan, in Amherst. Don grew up with a strong sense of community and family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Florence Morgan; his brother, Rodger Morgan; his infant son, Kenneth Morgan; and his beloved son, Douglas Morgan.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Darlene (nee Yeager), who was his high school sweetheart and soulmate; daughters Karen (Richard) Kuehn of Amherst, and Connie (Craig) Trueman of Huron; grandsons, Nicholas Kuehn, Aaron (Gina) Kuehn, Raffaele (Kelsey) Ruta, Dominic (Lilly) Ruta, and Lorenzo (Lauren) Ruta; and 10 cherished great-grandchildren.

Don was a proud graduate of Lorain High School, class of 1959. Following high school, Don served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963, achieving the rank of Corporal E4. After his discharge, Don went on to have a distinguished career at Ford Motor Company, starting at Lorain Plant and later working at Ohio Truck Plant in Avon Lake. His work as a Behr operator and his dedication to the company led to his retirement in 1994.

His passion for classic cars was one of his defining hobbies. He owned and restored several remarkable vehicles throughout his life, including a 1938 Ford, a 1948 Ford, a 1964 hardtop T-Bird, a 1964 convertible T-Bird, and a 1951 black Oldsmobile. A gifted mechanic, Don rebuilt many engines, restored cars to their original condition, and proudly won trophies at car shows. He was an active member of several car clubs, including The Oldsmobile Northern Ohio Chapter, Car Coddlers of Ohio, and Remember Cruisin' Club, where he served as president.

Don was also deeply involved in Masonic organizations and community service. He served as Master for several lodges, including Lorain Lodge 552, Black River Lodge, Blue Steel Lodge, and Stonington Lodge. His contributions to The Masonic Fraternity were significant, serving as District Education Officer, District Deputy Grand Master of Ohio, and he was an honorary member of many lodges. He was also an active member of The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Mystic Chapter #170, and The Scottish Rite. His service extended to The Second DeMolay District of Ohio, where he was an Active Legion of Honor member and a dedicated DeMolay dad for his son.

Faith was central in Don's life, and he was a devoted member of Faith United Methodist Church, where he served as an acolyte, usher, and in various leadership roles within The Men's Club. After Faith Church closed, he transferred his membership to Amherst United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at The Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their exceptional care and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Don's life from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, at Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
