Donald Clark "Don" Shrader passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, at The Willows of Willard.

Donald was born July 14, 1929, in Shelby, to Ella Marie Clark Shrader and Warren Eastman Shrader.

Donald attended all 12 years at Willard, graduating in 1947. Except for three years in U.S. Air Force, he resided in Willard. Donald worked various occupations after leaving the Air Force. He worked on Lake Freighters on the Great Lakes. He met and married the love of his life, Nina Holden Brown, in 1954 (best thing he ever did, he said). They were married for 42 years. Don and Nina enjoyed many years of traveling and square dancing with the Promenaders. Donald was employed as a soda clerk at the Fan Fare, a clerk at Schodorf's Luncheonette, Willard United Bank, and Pioneer Rubber Co. He was an apprentice carpenter on G. I. Bill. In 1960, he began his career at R.R. Donnelley and retired from there in 1990.

Don left his mark on the city of Willard. He was very active in many organizations in Willard. He was a member of Kiwanis, Willard Historical Society, Railroad Museum (restored the caboose and box car), Willard Tree Committee, Willard Rediscovering, History Book, Habitat for Humanity, and Clock Tower Committee. He was very eager to see the Clock Tower completed.

He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and currently attended Grace Methodist.

Don leaves behind his three sisters, Barbara Chambers of Huron, Linda Adams of McHenry, Illinois, and Ruth Felger of Austin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina; parents; and one nephew.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, until the time of Don's service at 2 p.m. at Secor Funeral Home, Willard. The Rev. Doug Winner will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven, at a later date.
