Donna Mineo Obituary

Donna M. Mineo

May 30, 1941 - Dec 21, 2023

Sandusky

Donna Mae (Vargosick) Mineo, 82, of Sandusky, passed away late Thursday evening, Dec. 21, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.

Donna was born May 30, 1941, in Port Clinton, the daughter of Charles Clarence and Gertrude Florence (Williams) Vargosick. She was a 1960 graduate of Lakeside High School. Donna was a homemaker and spent the early years raising her family and later went on and worked at the Parish House at St. Mary's Catholic Church before retiring.

She enjoyed getting together with her classmates every month for a variety of functions, luncheons, and gatherings. Donna will be remembered by her family for being a wonderful cook, quite the seamstress in her earlier days, and how she enjoyed the outdoors and took great pride in working in her yard and tending to her flowers beds, which she found great comfort in. She also truly loved decorating around the house for all of the holidays, as well as, any other occasion throughout the year.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was involved with the Old House Guild of Sandusky with her husband since 1979.

Donna is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jack C. "Butch" Mineo, whom she married June 8, 1973; two daughters, Amy Mineo and Christy (Michael) Retzke, all of Sandusky; stepson, Gregg (Tara) Bauman of Huron; grandson, Easton Retzke; two stepgrandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Olson of Mansfield; and nieces and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Vargosick and Gertrude Kekelik; and sister, Carole Elder.

The family wished to have her cremated.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Monte Hoyles will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
