Dora J. Petersen, 80, of Sandusky, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

She was born Oct. 30, 1942, in Lakewood, Ohio, and was a 1960 graduate of Sandusky High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at the former IAC, Huron, for 26 years. Dora enjoyed going out to eat, board games, playing cards, and day trips with her sisters.

She is survived by four children, G. James (Dedre) Petersen of Sandusky, JoAnne (Thomas) Vollmar of Fremont, and Dennis (Jeri) Petersen and Brian (Rhonda) Petersen, both of Sandusky; grandchild, Justin (Courtney) Leech of Taunton, Massachusetts; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Norman (Nancy) Kurtz, Katherine (Terry) Cornelious, David (Eileene) Kurtz, Rolland (Rose) Kurtz, Nancy (Timothy) Casey, Patricia (Mark) Lewis, and Carol (Edward) Beatty; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. and Catherine (Wood) Kurtz; and brother, Robert J. Kurtz.

The family will receive friends 12 p.m. until the time of Dora's memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Don Spurlock will officiate.
