Elizabeth Carry Obituary

Elizabeth A. "Liz" Carry

Mar 14, 1942 - Sep 29, 2024

Republic

Elizabeth A. (Herb) "Liz" Carry, 82, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, in Sandusky in Hospice Care.

Liz was born March 14, 1942, in Sandusky, to Clarence and Ruth (Reidel) Herb. Liz was a graduate of Sandusky St. Mary in 1960. She then went to work for the Social Security Administration for over 30 dedicated years. After retirement, Liz worked for Dr. John Vela in Tiffin for almost 15 years.

Liz met her husband, Donald Carry, while "buzzing" the Ave. in Sandusky in 1961. They were married Oct. 12, 1966, and spent over 51 years together until Don's passing in 2017. Liz loved her garden and all the various animals and critters they accumulated over the years, from horses to a fox and everything in between. Liz also enjoyed making various wooden crafts that Don cut out which she painted and brought to life. Also, she and Don toured much of the United States via motor home just so the dog could go along. Liz's greatest joy was being with her grandchildren whether at one of their sporting events or musical performances, or just sitting and playing games.

Liz was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, along with Attica Garden Club.

Liz is survived by her son, Chris (Melissa) Carry; two grandchildren, Jacob and Molly Carry; four stepdaughters, Debbie (Allan) Schoen, Darlene (Steve) Hoepf, Donna (Bill) Valent, and Diane (Rob) Nutter; 10 stepgrandchildren; and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren; and stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Additionally, Lorene Herb (niece) shared a very special bond with Liz and was of great comfort to her over many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; and three brothers, Ronald, David, and Michael Herb.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica with the Rev. Joseph P. Joseph officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass at church. Visitation for family and friends will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville. Burial will follow services Friday at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Attica.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Humane Society or Dorothy Kern Cancer Center in Fremont.

Sorry, I meant to add a photo. Liz is on the far right.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of my friend Liz Herb Carrey. We went to grade school and 2 years of high school at St Mary's. I transferred to Sandusky High for my last two years, but we got together after high school and hung out together. We went to The Barn together where a guy we vaguely knew from school was trying to get Liz to go out with him. She wasn't interested but I thought he was nice and Ron Zuber and I ended up getting married a year later and Liz was one of my bridesmaids!
