Elizabeth "Betsy" Papcun, 89, formerly of Port Clinton, passed away with her family by her side at her daughter Kathy's residence Sunday, June 4, 2023.

She was born May 25, 1934, in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Freeman) Stoddard. She was previously married to Ronald J. Clements from 1956 until he passed away in 1968. She then married John G. Papcun in 1975 and he preceded her in death Jan. 25, 2023.

Betsy attended Rochester Business Institute. She was employed at Bowling Green State University and Ohio Unemployment Office in Port Clinton until her retirement.

Betsy was a member of Port Clinton Yacht Club, Port Clinton Elks, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was involved with Ave Maria group. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. Most importantly, Betsy enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved attending and watching her grandchildren's sporting events. Betsy was always a BIG Cleveland Indians fan.

Betsy's survivors include her children, Kathy Williams (Doug) of Adrian, Michigan, Nancy Alford (Andy) of Dallas, Texas, Dan Clements (Cathy) of Glendale, Arizona, Susan Parker (Randy) of Perrysburg, Peggy Kalbfus (Todd) of Penfield, New York, and Eric Papcun of Norwalk, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer and Ben Decker Charles Williams, Max Alford, Katy (Alford) Council, Nick and Alex Clements, Steven, Andy, and David Parker, Ryan Kalbfus, and Elivia and Tillman Papcun; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy (John) Ball of Caledonia, New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Williams; and great-granddaughter, Evelyn Williams.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton. Mass of Christian burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Fr. Jonathan Wight officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Island Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John and Betsy Papcun Scholarship Fund and sent to Port Clinton High School, 821 Jefferson St., Port Clinton, Ohio, 43452.
